Yoshiko Iwashita, a Kyoto-born resident of Los Angeles, peacefully passed away at her home on May 28, 2026, at the age of 99.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Takamori Iwashita.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted children: Irene Megumi Adachi; Grace Michiyo (Jon) Kramer; J.W. Jr. (Sherry) Thompson; Bobby (Teresa) Thompson; Sueko (Ray) Gibbs; and Paul (Suzanne) Thompson.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jason Ryu (Rebecca) Adachi, Jessica Aya Adachi, Kristen Mariko Yee, and many beloved grandchildren from the Thompson and Gibbs families. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Jaxson Kai Adachi and Camden Koa Adachi, as well as many cherished great-grandchildren from the Thompson and Gibbs families. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Yoshiko will be remembered for the love she shared with her family, the strength and kindness she demonstrated throughout her life, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind in the generations who were blessed to know her.
A Funeral and Interment Service was held on June 22, 2026, at Inglewood Park Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Koho Takata of the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple.
