Yooko Munekata, 93-year-old born in Olaa, Hawaii, resident of Los Angeles, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.

Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Ryo Munekata, and her siblings, Rev. Reiko (Rev. Toshifumi) Koike and Rev. Herbert Hideto Matsubayashi.  She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Emi Munekata (Dr. Myles Morimoto); son, Dr. Mark (Nancy) Munekata; grandchildren, Dr. Cherie and Derek Morimoto, and Kai and Erika Munekata; siblings, Rev. Dr. Hoshu (Kyoko) Matsubayashi, Rev. George (Kay) Matsubayashi; sister-in-law, Chikako Matsubayashi; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 11 a.m. at Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 815 E. First St. in Los Angeles.
