Obituary

MRS. YASUKO SAWANO, 95, a resident of Irvine, CA, who was born in Hilo, HI, and raised in Japan, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019.  Mrs. Sawano was a piano teacher for many years and was the wife of the late Kiyoshi Sawano who was the principal designer of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center Building in Los Angeles.

She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Alissa (Leon) Peterson; son, Albert (Audrey Wu) Sawano; grandchildren, Melina Peterson, Thomas and Nicole Sawano, and nieces, nephews and relatives here and in Japan.

Private family celebration of life service was held at Green Hills Memorial Park, with Rev. KarenFay Ramos-Young officiating.
