She was born in Los Angeles, CA on February 15, 1931
to the late Tokuichi and Kotoyo Yamamoto. She was the
third of eight children. She died peacefully in
Pasadena, CA and was attended to by her companion Fred Miwa.
During WW II she was interned with her family in
Poston, AZ. She attended the local schools and continued her education at LACC. She later attended Cal State University Fullerton and graduated with a Degree in French, German, and Spanish with a minor in English.
She worked for several years with the State of California as a Welfare Counselor and worked for a short time as an instructor in French and Spanish in the L.A. Unified school District.
She leaves behind three brothers, Shoji, Takenori and Noriyuki; two sisters,
Kikuko (Sam) Sadamitsu and Kimiyo (Paul) Ige, sister-in law Frances Hara Yamamoto, along with nine nieces and nephews, and eleven grand-nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her zest for life and a curiosity to see and experience new places. She had a generous nature along with a loving concern for all her
family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Zenshuji Soto Mission in Little
Tokyo, 123 S. Hewitt St., Los Angeles, CA
