William Henry Safranek IV passed peacefully in his home the morning of May 1, 2026. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Los Angeles Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 815 E. 1st St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
William Henry Safranek IV was born to William Henry Safranek III and Diana June Hunnel on August 8, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio.
William worked in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 27 years as a passionate teacher and community organizer.
William’s greatest loves were spending time with his family, Scouting, watching detective shows and adventuring outdoors through bicycling, camping, backpacking, and white-water rafting.
In lieu of flowers, the Safranek family kindly asks for donations to be made to Scouting in William’s honor using the link below. William was a proud Eagle Scout. He served as a dedicated leader in Nishi Hongwanji’s Troop 738 and the larger Scouting community.
William is survived by his loving family: wife, Christina Safranek; son, William Henry Safranek V; mother, Diana June Safranek; father, William Henry Safranek III; brother, Grant Safranek (Aisha Galt-Theis); uncles, Frank Safranek (Cheryl) and Ed Safranek; aunts, Martha Bennett (Harry) and Margaret Clonch. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and other relatives.
