William Henry "Bill" Adams
(January 20, 1941 – October 26, 2024)
A private celebration for the late William Henry Adams was held graveside at Evergreen Cemetery on December 13, 2024, with his long-time friend, Don Corley, officiating.
Bill was born in Oddville, Kentucky. He attended 13 schools in his K-12 education. He spent his youth building houses with his father and fixing cars. When he was 17 his family moved to central Florida where he completed high school.
At age 19, Bill joined the Navy where he served 31 years, mostly in naval intelligence. Since he was so highly valued, he received a presidential extension from George W. Bush. In 1984 in order to work beyond 30 years. In 1984 he met Celia, whom he married in 1987. They travelled to Senegal for his last embassy assignment. After retiring from the Navy in 1990, he went to work for the City of Commerce, first in the Parks and Recreation Department and then in the Transportation department, setting up his SOPs. Once he retired from the City of Commerce in 2018, he enjoyed life with his wife and dogs, travelled all around the country, played golf, read, created his music files, and got together with family and friends.
Bill was a dedicated brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and mentor who loved sports, especially golf. He is survived by his loving family and friends who will miss his wry humor. He is survived by his wife, Celia Adams; son, Darrell Adams; grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin (Melissa), Stacey Grasmeder (Jeff), and Christina Adams; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Blake, & Brooks Grasmeder and Marissa and Jayden Adams; brother, Don Adams.
He is predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Samuel Adams; siblings, Melvin, Dorothy Hanna, Geneva Leek and James; and his son, William H Adams, Jr.
