Tom Takashi Maeda, Hollywood, California-born Nisei resident of Gardena, passed away peacefully on his 97th birthday on September 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Akiko Maeda and son, Kent Maeda.

He is survived by his loving family: daughters Ayako Motoyasu and Midori (Neil) Kubota, and son Lance Maeda; grandchildren Miaki Motoyasu, Matthew (Rochelle) and Timothy Kubota, Justin (Heather) Maeda, Misaki (Greg) Locsin, Alisha and Colby Maeda, and Sydney Gartner; great grandchildren, Teagan and Kayden Maeda; as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives in the United States and Japan.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th Street, Gardena.
