IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tom Shunzo
Amimoto
May 15, 1941 – January 24, 2021
Tom Shunzo Amimoto was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. The 79-year-old, California born resident of Monterey Park, and United States Air Force Veteran, passed away on January 24, 2021.
Tom enjoyed a long career as a heavy equipment mechanic for the City of Los Angeles' Water and Power. He absolutely loved hosting family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, sporting events, or just for any reason to get together. His family was his greatest joy and of utmost importance to him.
Tom absolutely enjoyed traveling with his family. Countless trips were taken to go fishing in the Sierras, to the Bay Area, San Diego, and Las Vegas. Upon retirement, his travels took him around the entire United States and parts of Canada. The highlight of his travels being a trip to Japan with his granddaughter for her high school graduation. On these trips he enjoyed looking for gifts for his family but especially for his grandchildren.
Tom was a true SoCal homer. You can always count on him to be rooting for his Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, and Kings. He was so happy to be able to finally see his beloved Dodgers win the World Series after 32 long years.
He is survived by his loving family: beloved wife, Pat Amimoto; son, Jeffrey (Roxanne) Amimoto; daughter, Kristin (Sheldon) Chan; grandchildren, Kayleen, Korinne, and Derrick Amimoto, Kayla and Ethan Chan; siblings, Kanji Amimoto, Barbara Sarabia, Jerry (Pam) and Eugene (Teri) Amimoto. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Tom was a wonderful husband, Dad, and an extremely fun Grandpa. To many, he will be remembered for that million dollar smile and his kind and generous nature.
A private viewing was held at Fukui Mortuary. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with his family.
