Timothy “Timber” Shoji Manaka, a beloved resident of Los Angeles, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the remarkable age of 103. Born in Monterey, California, Timothy spent over 70 years in Los Angeles, leaving a lasting legacy in both his community and the insurance industry.

Timothy began his career at Funakoshi Insurance Agency in 1956, becoming President in 1980. In 1996, he founded FIA Insurance and served as chairman until retiring in 2010. His dedication and leadership made a lasting impact on the insurance industry.

Timothy will be dearly missed by his family: his son Timothy (Akiko) Manaka; daughter Barbara (the late Philip) Ito; grandchildren Derek Manaka of Tacoma, WA, Taryn Manaka of Chicago, IL, Leslie Ito, and Noelle Ito; and great-grandchildren Rockett Wong, Zoe Wong, and Kinsey Okada. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.

A funeral service honoring Timothy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 S. Central Ave., Los Angeles.
