SATO, Ted Teruo, 87, of San Gabriel, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014.
He was born to the late Kuniji and Misao Sato on April 29, 1926 in Redondo Beach, CA. He was interned in Poston, AZ during WW II. Afterward, he and his family moved to Chicago, IL where he learned his trade as a mechanic and met his wife. Later he moved back to California, living in Los Angeles then San Gabriel for the remainder of his life.
Ted was a master mechanic for his entire life until he retired in 1999. After retiring, he spent his days playing with the family dogs, taking care of his fish tank and car, and even retuned to bowling for a short while. He loved to watch Lakers and Dodgers games.
Ted is survived by his three daughters: Lynn (Craig W. Smith) Sato-Smith of Huntington Beach, Roxanne Bejar of Las Vegas and Debbie (Frank M. Saito) Saito of San Gabriel. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Steven M. Saito, Janis Bejar, Stephanie S. (Dan Lau) Saito, Ian M.R. Smith, Alissa M. Smith and Danny Mizufuka.
Family funeral services were held on Friday, February 28, at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden", with Rev. Daiki Toho of Zenshuji Soto Mission officiating.
