Takayuki Sumitomo, a 78-year-old resident of Torrance passed away on September 5th, 2016. Taka was born in Tokyo, Japan and arrived in the United States in 1953, attaining U.S. citizenship in 2000.

Beloved husband of Joyce Emiko Sumitomo; devoted father of Troy Shuji (Trini Tran) Sumitomo and Jodi Miyuki (Michael) Nishioka; and proud "PaPa" of Sean Keiichi Sumitomo, Emma Joyce Sumitomo and Dallas Makena Yamane. Taka is also survived by many family members and friends.

Respecting and honoring his wishes, a family memorial gathering will be held privately. In lieu of flowers or koden, the family would appreciate a small potted succulent plant (4-5 inch diameter pot) for a garden in Mr. Sumitomo's memory, in love and respect of the uniquely wonderful person he was -thoughtful and welcoming, playful and adventurous, charismatic and stylish.
