Private memorial services for the late Tadashi Harase, a 90 year old , Los Angeles, California-born Nisei resident of Santa Monica who passed away on November 23 were held at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden", officiated by Rev. Mark Nakagawa of Centenary United Methodist Church.
The son of Hanzaburo Harase, a Little Tokyo Dry Goods store owner who was also one of the primary founders of the "Rafu Shimpo"- now one of the few remaining Japanese-American newpapers still in print today- Mr. Harase attended Garfield High School before earning a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of California Berkley, and was a fan of the UCLA Bruins throughout his life. Mr. Harase also loved nature and Hawaii.
Mr. Harase is survived by his wife, Yasuko Harase; daughters, Jean (Wayne) and Eileen (Greg); grandchildren, Kristie, Cory and Chole. He will also be missed by his two Shetland Sheepdogs, Mikey and Jiro.
