Sueo Tamura (80) passed away on Wednesday morning, January 30, 2013.
Sueo was born on April 16, 1932 in Redondo Beach, California to Inayoshi and Hanai Tamura. He graduated from Torrance High School in Torrance, California in 1951. After being interned in Rohwer, Arkansas, the Tamura family returned to California to become farmers. Sueo spent his days helping around the farm before deciding to enlist in the Air Force. During his service, he was stationed in Africa. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to California, bought a home in Gardena, and found employment in the electronics industry. Having worked in electronics for 30+ years, he decided to take an early retirement and enjoy life.
To many of his friends, he was known as Sam. He enjoyed bowling, playing poker, and most of all, loved to eat! His favorite foods were sushi, udon/noodles, mochi/manju, and beer. Tacos were also a special treat he enjoyed. During Sueo's later years, his grandniece, Kiana, would share a taco or two with him when she visited the care facility he resided in.
Sueo will be dearly missed. He is survived by his brother, Kunima Tamura; sisters, Emmie (Frank) Yamaguchi, and Nobuko (John) Mitsuuchi; sister-in-law, Toshi Tamura; nieces and nephews, Pat (Joseph) Greenbank, Lloyd Tamura, Susan (Greg) Kishiyama, Richard (Liza) Tamura, Marie Tamura, Karen Nakamura, Denise Yamaguchi, David Mitsuuchi, Ronald (Leslie) Mitsuuchi, Lori (Michael) Nichols, Trisha (Ryan) Bosman, Gene Yamamoto, Gale (Michael) Northrup, Tania (Brian) Cook, Steve (Alicia) Kawasaki, Harvey Kawasaki, Marian (John) Toner, Joyce Kawasaki, Wanda (David) Kimura; and many grandnieces, grandnephews, and other relatives.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 11AM-1PM at the Fukui Mortuary located at 707 E. Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Based upon his wishes, there will be a private service at sea. Dress attire for the viewing is casual and the family kindly requests no flowers.
