Private funeral services for the late Mrs. Shizue Yamashiro, 94 –year old visual artist, Japan born resident of Los Angeles, who passed away on February 6, 2016, were held on February 22, at Fukui Mortuary " Chapel in the garden", officiated by Rimban William Briones of Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

She is survived by her loving husband, Masao Yamashiro; nieces, Kitty Sankey of Los Angeles, Amy (T.K.) Lee of Maine, Yoko (Hiroteru) Tsukahara, Ayako Ichikawa, and Maki Niida all of Japan; nephews, Dr. Mikio (Dr. Kathy) and EdWing Sankey of Los Angeles, Gilbert Yamashiro, Roy Senaga, and Dale Senaga all of Hawaii.
