Shizue Naramura, 99-year-old Canoga Park-born resident of Sawtelle in West Los Angeles, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Sunrise Playa Vista, where she resided with the utmost care.
She was one of the early Japanese-American real estate brokers in the Sawtelle area of West Los Angeles, where she owned an office with her husband, Hiroshi Naramura, for many successful years. She was a pioneer of this community and the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple, and made efforts to improve the Sawtelle Boulevard area into its current, people-friendly commercial center.
She is predeceased by her husband Hiroshi; sisters Toshiko Ichikawa, Amy Tominaga, Kaye Okitsu; and son Glenn Naramura. She is survived by her children Kenneth and Victor Naramura; two grandchildren Robert and Kristine Naramura; sister Hideko Mochizuki; and many relatives of her family.
A funeral service is scheduled on Saturday, June 29, 1:00 PM, at West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple, 2003 Corinth Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90025 officiated by Reverend Fumiaki Usuki.
