Shiro Nishida, 89, passed away peacefully on January 12th 2016 in Torrance, CA. He is survived by Atsuko, his loving wife of 60 years and his children Yuko (Paul) Chan, Hitomi (Glenn) Nishinaka, Norikazu (Tami) Nishida and Takashi (Kris) Nishida. He was adored and missed by his 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces in CA, Hawaii and Japan.
Shiro was born in Maui, Hawaii on October 28th 1926. He was the 6th of 9 children and the 4th son. During his formative years he lived in Maui, Manchuria and Japan. He grew up on a farm where his father and uncles built a large scale farm operation growing various vegetables, pineapple and watermelon. In Japan, he fell in love with Atsuko and married in 1955.
Although Alzheimer's began to erode his mind several years ago, he continued to have a strong sense of will to live well, be strong and smiled when he saw a familiar face. He will continue to live in our hearts and mind.
A celebration of Shiro's life was held at Fukui Mortuary on January 18th, 2016.
