Shigeto "Toyo" Toyoshima, 101 year old California born resident of Monterey Park, former internee at Heart Mountain who volunteered to serve in the US Army, assigned to the Military Intelligence Unit with the 112th Calvary Regimental Combat Team, earned the rank of second lieutenant and awarded a Purple Heart from injuries, passed away peacefully at Kei Ai on Wednesday August 30, 2017. He is survived by his loving family;  wife, Kiku, sons, Glenn Toyoshima (Marion), Lawrence Toyoshima (Suzanne), grandchildren; Lance Toyoshima, Tiffany Toyoshima (Dick Wong), Michelle Toyoshima, great grandchildren; Jason Wong, Drew Wong, and brother, Shiz Toyoshima and several nieces and nephews.

Private internment at Evergreen Cemetery at a future date.
