Public memorial services for the late Dr. Kawanami, 83-year-old Fukuoka, Japan born naturalized U.S. citizen who passed away on July 26 will be held on Saturday, August 20, 11:00 A.M. at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, California 90275.

He is survived by wife, Shirley Kawanami; sons, Dean (Chiaki) Yamashita and Craig (Emi) Yamashita of Tokyo, Japan; granddaughter, Leila Yamashita; brother, George Kawanami; sisters, Hiroko (Jim) Yamamoto, Sadako (Dr. John) Okada, and Chiyoko (Bob) Wada; sister-in-law, Tokiko "Tish" Kawanami; brothers-in-law, Samuel Naito of Portland, Oregon, and Ken Iwashina; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
