Sharon passed away on October 9, 2023 in Upland CA at the age of 71. Born on March 26, 1952 in Los Angeles, she was the younger daughter of Kiyoshi and Sumiye Okita.

Sharon's warm and welcoming spirit made her home a haven for many. She hosted countless family and friends over the years, always greeting them with a warm embrace and heartwarming dishes. Her most renowned dish, ozoni soup, was served each year on New Year's Day. Her children have often tried, and failed, to reproduce her recipes. Each time she seemingly "forgot" to share a key ingredient or critical step – which they all suspect as sabotage.

Sharon was a quiet personality with an adventurous spirit and lived abundantly. She will be remembered by her tough, no-nonsense attitude that was beautifully balanced by her kind and giving spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gustavo Barragan; sons, Gustavo Barragan (Ana) and Nicholas Barragan (Eliza) and; daughters, Carolyn Barragan (Roger) and Nicole Barragan; grandchildren Alex, Sebi, Audrey, Harper, Warren, and Benjamin; her brother Ronald Okita (Ditas); and many other loving relatives.

Funeral service was held at Senshin Buddhist Temple, Reverend Ryuta Furumoto officiating.
