Sakae Kawata, DDS, 87-year-old, Delano, CA born, resident of Los Angeles, passed away on August 26, 2017.  A memorial service will be held on a later date.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Ishizaki Kawata; children, Eric (Ellen), Garrett (Dana), Ben (Michelle), Konni (KenTittle), and Curt (Vivian); grandchildren, Kristin, Bryan and Lauren Kawata, Allie and Bree Kawata, Alisa (Dakotah) Needham, Michael Kawata, Mia, Lani and Mason Tittle, Caitlin, Chris, Charles and Claire Kawata; great-granddaughter, Lailah Needham; brother, Rev. Dr. Teruo (Kiku) Kawata of Hawaii; he is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Sakae was predeceased by his siblings, Dr. Nobuyuki (Chizuko) Kawata and Rev. Miyeko Kawata Uriu.

Sakae was a humble man who dedicated 60 years of his life to the patients of his dental practice in West Los Angeles. He was a man of true character. Those who knew him witnessed his kindness, selflessness, and generosity. He sacrificed for his family, and willingly helped people in need. "Papa" will be truly missed, but he will always remain in our hearts.
