A private funeral service for Mrs. Sachiyo Matsushima was held on Friday, January 16th, at Gardena Buddhist Church and was officiated by the Rev. John Iwohara. Sachiyo was 90 years old and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 9th, 2015. She was born on Terminal Island and was a resident of Gardena.

Sachiyo is predeceased by her husband, Tom, and daughter, Irene. She is survived by her loving children, Dr. Glenn K. (Deborah) Matsushima, Julie S. Matsushima, Paul T. (Diane) Matsushima and Lynne (Craig) Matsuno. Her grandchildren are Danielle, Brian, Ryan and Kara.
