Dr. Ryo Munekata, 96-year-old born in Tacoma, Washington, and resident of Los Angeles, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 29, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife, Yooko Munekata; daughter, Dr. Emi Munekata (Dr. Myles Morimoto); son, Dr. Mark (Nancy) Munekata; grandchildren, Cherie and Derek Morimoto, and Kai and Erika Munekata; nephew Rev. Alan (Renka) Sakamoto; and many other relatives.

Funeral services under the auspices of the Los Angeles Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple will be held on Sunday, October 29, 1:00 p.m., at the Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 815 E. First St. in Los Angeles.
