Private memorial services for the late Mr. Robert "Uncle Bob" Ginzo Afuso, an 88 year-old, Lahaina, Maui-born, Nisei resident of Monterey Park who passed away on July 19 were held at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden" officiated by Rev. Clifford Ishigaki.

Mr. Afuso was the second child of Gingoro and Guji Ginzoa Afuso. Along with his older sister Hatsue Nora, and his younger brother Koei Larry, Mr. Afuso grew up in the Wahiawa Plantation of Oahu, Hawaii, where he attended LeiLeihua High School. After graduation, Mr. Afuso went to work for the California Packing Co. in Hawaii where he quickly earned a reputaion as a highly valued employee. In 1954, Ginzso moved to Los Angeles, CA with his family and went to work for New York Merchandising Company until his retirement 30 years later. In 1959, Mr. Afuso married Aiko Myrna Ujimori in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Afuso enjoyed 51 happy years together taking many vacations to various locales around the world.

"Uncle Bob" is survived his beloved wife, Mrs. Aiko Myrna Afuso; brother, Larry Afuso; nephews, Dennis, Robert, George, Burton and Greg; nieces, Joyce and Suzanne. Also survived by a large number of grand-nephews and grand-nieces, and many other family and friends who loved and adored him and will never forget his wonderful personality and sense of humor.
