Richard Noboru Takaki age 63, resident of Torrance, passed away on April 8, 2025. He suffered a major heart attack and collapsed. Despite a valiant effort by a good Samaritan and the medical team at the hospital, he could not be saved.
Richard was born on September 23, 1961 to Kenny and Chieko Takaki in Los Angeles. Richard attended Los Angeles High School. He went on to California State University, Los Angeles, then obtained his BS in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach in May 1987. He was hired by Gulfstream Aerospace in 1988 and began designing the interior space of custom jets. He worked diligently and moved up to the level of management. Richard retired from Gulfstream in December 2020.
Richard loved running, playing coed volleyball, skiing, fishing, landscaping, gardening and most recently playing pickleball. His lawn was immaculate and grew plumerias from seeds. Richard was a devoted husband, father, dutiful son, brother, an uncle to many nieces and nephews, a grand uncle, a hard working co-worker, loyal friend and a helpful neighbor.
Richard was preceded in death by father Kenny, mother Chieko and sister Arlene. Richard is survived by wife Donna, son Andrew, brothers Michael (Nancy), Frank (Cindy), Don (Leta), sisters Dorothy (Terry) Kunihiro, Kathy, brothers and sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephew.
Richard's infectious smile and laugh will be missed!
