Reiko Hiraike, 88-year-old, born in Yamaguchi, Japan passed away peacefully on December 30, 2017. She was one of four children born to Haruki and Yoshiko Nawata. She married Sammy Hiraike in 1956 and moved to Los Angeles. She was a homemaker, who was skilled in cooking, sewing, knitting, Japanese calligraphy, flower arrangement, and tea ceremony. Over the years, she was active in the Japanese community.

She is survived by her husband Sammy; daughters Eileen Hiraike and Dr. Kathleen (Dr. Kenneth) Sakamoto; her sister Kimiko Kochi; her niece Carole (Richard) Murase; brother Hiroshi Nawata of Japan; many other nieces, nephews, and relatives in California and Japan. A private service was held at Fukui Mortuary on January 13, 2018.
