Raymond Nobuo
Narusawa
October 12, 1928 – March 23, 2025
Rev. Raymond Nobuo Narusawa, a 96-year-old resident of Alhambra, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ryoko Joy Narusawa; children, Borden (Yumi) Narusawa, Lois (Wayne) Nakamoto, and Gary Narusawa; grandchildren, Kayla, Daniel, and Quinn; he is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Raymond was born in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He began his career in 1955 at Christian Layman Church in Berkeley as a student pastor. In 1964, he was sent by the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society (JEMS) to Brazil where he served for 15 years. He served as a pastor in the Pacific Coast Japanese Free Methodist Conference with appointments to congregations at Venice Santa Monica, East Bay, Mission Valley, and South Bay.
Raymond enjoyed swimming, golf, and sports. He especially loved baseball. He was an avid Dodgers fan who loved to talk about how Shohei Ohtani and his team were doing.
A celebration of life will be held on April 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Mission Valley Free Methodist Church in San Gabriel. Aloha or casual attire. Dodger attire or Dodger blue welcome!
