Obituary

Paul Hiroshi Yoshida was born on June 14,1921 in Gardena, CA. He passed away to be with the Lord on June 19,2013, at the age of 92 at the City of Hope Hospital of respiratory failure. He was the 2nd oldest of 5children in the Yoshida family. He is survived by wife Michiko Miyamura Yoshida, daughter Patricia and son-in-law, Sam Shimomura, son Alan, sisters, Betty Yasuko Anderson and Fumiko Uyeda, and many nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Hiro". An elder brother, Shoji, infant brother, Minoru, Sister Toshiko, and parents, Tamotsu and Fujie, predeceased him. He graduated from Manuel Arts High School in los Angeles in June of 1940. During the evacuation from California, the Yoshida family chose to move to Denver, Colorado, where they began to farm. Michiko Miyamura was in Denver attening college. Mich's sister, Momoko introduced Hiro to Mich and after a short courtship, they were married on November 24, 1942. After the war they returned to Los Angeles. Thet raised 2children-a daughter, Patsy and a son, Alan. Hiro,s work history included working as a clerk at the Grand Central Market and as an insurance salesman. He finally settled for a partnership in a sevice station on 9th and Central in Los Angeles, along with his friend, Eddie Ikemoto. They succesfully owned and operated "Eddie and Paul's" Chevron Station for 25years. He went to college to become a Realtor Associate and later he decided he needed a more physical job to keep him in shape. Working for Oliver's Cart Recovery kept kim busy for 2 years and he retired at the age of 65. During his retirement he traveled with his family to Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan and Korea several times. This also included time spent on the east and west coast, Gallup, New Mexico, Arizona, and an Alaska cruise. During his earlier years, his hobbies included bowling, fishing, and riding motoercycles. True to their marriage vow "Thill death do us part", the life Mich and Hiro had shared for 71years. A memorial service was held at Mission Valley Free Methodist Church.
