PAUL HIROSHI TSUNEISHI

April 16, 1923-September 27, 2014

Paul Hiroshi Tsuneishi, 91, beloved husband of Aiko, passed away on September 27, 2014. Paul leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Katsuye "Aiko" Tsuneishi; children, Gary Paul Tsuneishi (Faith) and Sharon Anne Tsuneishi; grandsons, Jeremy Paul (Nicole) Tsuneishi and Rhys Satoru Crane, and awesome great-grandchildren Emi, Wesley, and Lily Tsuneishi.

Paul leaves a legacy of peace and social justice community activism. He was involved with NAACP, Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), EO9066 Redress and Reparations, Sunland Tujunga Fair Housing Commission, Compensation for Hibakusha atomic bomb survivors, Asian American PFLAG, the Heart Mountain Foundation, and Chatsworth West United Methodist Church.

An avid reader and writer, Paul's personal library spanned a range of genre; politics, economics, theology, psychology, ethnography…and Louis L'Amour and Charles M. Schulz! Paul spent many years interviewing and creating oral histories of Nisei, especially interested in the stories of the draft resistors during WWII.

Always smiling and laughing, he was quick to help anyone in need, always a champion of the"underdog", whether in football or in society. His easygoing demeanor belied his analytical, discerning mind.

Paul left this world a more loving, peaceful and just place.
