Miyoko "Mickie" Murata, 94, peacefully passed away on September 2, 2015. Mickie, born in California on Febuary 1, 1921, was a long time resident of Boyle Heights where she and her late husband, Bob, raised five children, Marilyn, Stephen, Judy, Dennis and Lon.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn and Stephen (Linda) Murata, Judy (Bill) Miller, Dennis (Jan) and Pastor Lon (Jenna) Murata; grandchildren, Denise (Chris) de Lapp, Christopher (Larinda) Kotani, Billy (Kimberly) Miller, Stephanie (Kyle) Tanabe, Courtney, Lindsay, Dean, Tyler, Madison, Robbie, Bennett and Trenton Murata; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Mia Kotani, and Samantha Tanabe; siblings, John (Harriet) and Atsumi (Matsu) Sugita; siblings-in-law, Machi Sugita, Jim Niiro, Ruby Takeshita, and Wanna Murata; she is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A private burial was held on September 19 at Rose Hills. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 10:30 am at Nova Community Church 4345 Emerald Street, Torrance 90503 officiated by Pastor Lon Murata of Generations Covenant Church. The family kindly request casual attire and no flowers.
