FUJIKAWA, Miyoko "Miyo" (94) A California-born Nisei, long-time resident of Gardena, who passed away in Oakland, California on August 9, 2014. Born in Reedley California on Christmas day 1919. Miyo's family later moved south to Gardena where Miyo started school, graduating from Gardena High School in 1937. Miyo then completed cosmetology school, eventually opening her own beauty salon in Los Angeles following World War II. In 1954 Miyo and her family returned to Gardena where she became an active member of the community, volunteering for many organizations and public services. She will be dearly missed by many.



Miyo was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, John Misuo Fujikawa. She is survived by her sons, Bruce, Mark (Georgia), Kirk (Karen) and Scott (Betty) Fujikawa. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and many other relatives.



A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 11:00 AM at Gardena Valley Baptist Church, 1630 W. 158th St., Gardena, CA.
