Midori "Mitzi" Kitajima, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 20th. She was a part of one of the pioneer Orange County farming families and was a devoted golfer, sport enthusiast, mahjong player and stock investor (outperforming seasoned professionals).

She will be dearly missed by her family: sister, Toyoko Kawakami; brother-in-law and Toyoko's husband, Dr. Iwao G. Kawakami; nieces and nephews, Gary Kawakami (Tracy), Debra (Michael) Izumi, Thomas (Ruth) Kawakami, Carole (John) Shumate and James Kawakami; great-nieces and great-nephews, Branden, Jared, Reed, Nicole, Conner, Erin, Justin, Kyle, Lauren and Ryan; and her dog, Shiitake.

The service will be held at Wintersburg Presbyterian Church (2000 N. Fairview Street, Santa Ana, Ca 92706) on Dec. 10, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

Family requests, in lieu of koden or flowers, that donations to be made to the Japanese American National Museum or favorite charity.
