Michiye Morikawa was born Dec 6, 1923 in El Monte, CA to Kazumi and Mataichi Morikawa. She was preceded by brother Hiro (deceased) and followed by brother Tokumi (deceased), sisters Ayako Yamada and Alice Umeda. She married Mitsuo Eguchi on Feb 5, 1944 and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. They raised 3 children, David, Dennis and Sheryl in Mentor,Ohio while she still worked full time as a meat wrapper in a Cleveland grocery store. She lived there until Mitsuo passed away Feb 4, 1988 and then retired in Reedley, California where she stayed active. Her last 4 years were spent in Colorado Springs, CO in an assisted living house near her daughter Sheryl and granddaughter Amy. At the age of 83, she fell asleep in her chair and didn't make it to lunch that day.

Michiye is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by children David and Shizuko Eguchi in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dennis and Linda Eguchi in Watsonville, California and Sheryl Ohl in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her respective grandchildren are Glenn and Weston Eguchi, Matthew, Melissa, Michael and Mark Eguchi and Amy Ohl. Her sisters, Ayako Yamada live in Reedley, California and Alice (and Todadoshi "Smokey") Umeda live in Murietta, California. Sisters-in-law Michiko Eguchi, Miyo Eguchi and Sachi Nakasako live in the Los Angeles, California area.

She will be dearly missed by family and friends who remember her big smile and enthusiasm.



Funeral services will be held Sunday October 21 at 5:00 pm with viewing beforehand at Fukui Mortuary, 707 E Temple St, Los Angeles, CA Burial services will be Monday October 22 at 10:00 am at Inglewood Park Cemetery 720 E Florence Ave, Inglewood (lot 204 Parkview F).
