Michiko Kurahashi crossed peacefully to heaven on November 21st in the presence of loved ones after a short battle with stomach cancer.

She was baptized at the age of 89 and passed at 94.

Born in Yokohama and raised in Osaka, Michiko majored in Economics and joined Daiken Sangyo (modern-day Itochu). It was there at Daiken's chorus group that she met her future husband Yoshiaki. When in 1970 Yoshiaki went to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, Michiko followed two years later with the children at the age of 44.

She supported Yoshiaki in his various businesses. Among them was Yoshiz, a little Japanese joint in downtown L.A. and later in Pasadena. It would go on to capture the hearts and stomachs of locals for nearly three decades.

Michiko enjoyed many hobbies from singing and Tai Chi to crafts and baking. She was known for her kind heart and warm smile.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years and her two older brothers, Yasuhiro and Toshio. She is survived by her younger sister Kazuko; daughter Yoshiko; son Shinpei; granddaughter Serina; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

An open memorial service was held at Fukui Mortuary on December 11th, and a private cremation ceremony was held at Evergreen Cemetery on December 12th, 2022.

優しい心と温かい笑顔で知られた倉橋美智子は胃癌との短い闘いの 末、家族に見守られながら11月21日に永眠した。

89歳で洗礼を受け、94歳で天国に召された。

横浜生まれ、大阪育ち。経済学を専攻した後、大建産業( 現在の伊藤忠商事)に就職。

会社のコーラス部にて義昭と出会い、結婚。

1970年に義昭が長年のアメリカン・ドリームを追って渡米。 美智子は2年後に子供達と共にアメリカへ渡り、 様々な事業を経営する夫を支えた。

中でもロスのダウンタウンと後にパサデナで開いた食事処のヨシズ は、30年間近く多くの顧客の心を掴み、お腹を満たした。

美智子の趣味は合唱や太極拳、 手芸やお菓子作りなど多岐にわたる。

58年間人生を共に歩んだ伴侶の義昭、 及び兄の武井康浩と俊雄に先立たれている。美智子は妹の和子、 娘の美子、息子の晋平、孫娘の芹奈、そして多くの姪、甥、 親族を残す。

告別式は12月11日に福井モーチュアリーで行われ、 火葬式はプライベートで翌日の12日にエバーグリーン・ セメタリーで行われた。
