Memorial services for the late Mrs. Michiko Sally Ito, a 91-year-old Los Angeles, California-born Nisei resident of San Fernando Valley and former Gila Relocation Center internee who passed away on June 8, 2011 will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 AM at San Fernando Valley Holiness Church, 9610 Haddon Ave., Pacoima, CA 91333, officiated by Pastor Roland Hazama.
Michi was the oldest child of immigrant parents, a Los Angeles native and graduate of Belmont High School; she (her family) struggled through the Depression, the stroke of her father and being interned during WWII but Michi persevered and completed Nursing school in Philadelphia then spent many years working, first as a nurse at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and then as an instructor of nursing at the Hollywood Presbyterian nursing school. With her husband John, she successfully raised 4 children.
Michi had a very full life filled with many joys and also challenges. Her ability to successfully overcome any of life's obstacles is a true testament to her strong will, courage and strength of conviction.
Michi is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John; children, Kathleen, Jonathan (Darlene), Bruce (Daniela), Larry (Josefina); 10 adoring grandchildren. Also survived by many other relatives and members of extended Sata family.
