IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael
Hurtado
August 2, 1941 – February 15, 2021
Michael Hurtado, 79, born in Chihuahua, Mexico, passed away from complications after cardiac surgery and subsequent Covid 19 infection. He fought valiantly, but our Heavenly Father called him home. Mike became a naturalized citizen and served in the Air Force for 4 years as a corpsman. After discharge he studied math and taught for 31 years in the Montebello Unified School District at Bell Gardens Intermediate School and Schurr High School. While in college he met Janice Umade while both were working at City View Hospital. Jan knew he was "The One" by how he cared and treated the patients there. They married in 1969 and raised two sons. He is survived by his devoted wife Janice, sons Philip (Kelly) Hurtado and Gabriel (Leelana) Hurtado, brother Jay (Linda) Hurtado, sister Coco (Ricko) Carranza, brother-in-law Dennis Umade, sister-in-law Lauri (Mark) Wright, grandsons Michael, Kai, Takeshi and Max Hurtado and nephews and nieces. Mike loved his family and friends and enjoyed working Kenken puzzles, playing Friday night poker, playing tennis and of course visiting Las Vegas. He had hoped to make it back to his beloved "Cal" for one last slot tournament after things opened up. We will miss you and your dad jokes, but you will be forever in our hearts. Due to pandemic restrictions a private family burial service will be held at a later date.
