Obituary

Masamichi (Mas) Sueda was born January 31, 1926 in Gardena, California and passed away on April 21, 2014 in Fullerton, California from pneumonia. One of eight children, he helped his family farm in Torrance, California prior to being forced to flee the West Coast (due to World War II) and settling in Gunnison, Utah to continue farming. While in Gunnison, Mas enlisted in the United States Army, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. While serving, Mas earned his Bachelors Degree from Maryland University. He retired from the Army in 1970 as a Lieutenant Colonel in US Army Intelligence, Division, while living in Carson, California. In 1971, he began his career at Hughes Aircraft Company and retired there in 1988 as the Head of Security while living in Fullerton, California.

Mas laughed easily and told great stories. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, and watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Michiko (Sally), sons Karl and his wife Laura, and Alan and his wife Mimi, daughter Karen, and his grandchildren Kimiko, Jason, Nicole, Shea, Drake and Venise, sister Fumi Nakano, and brothers Tak and his wife Rusty, and Ozzie and his wife Terrie.

A memorial service will be held at the Orange County Buddhist Church at 909 S Dale St. in Anaheim on Wednesday, April 30, at 11:00 am.

Casual attire is permitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Easter Seals Southern California, Attn: Nancy Weintraub, 1570 E. 17 th St., Santa Ana, CA 92705.
