Masami Mizutani, also known by many friends as “Butch” age 92, passed away peacefully, on March 2, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of quiet strength, kindness, and cherished memories. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Masami served his country with honor in the Korean War from 1951-55 before returning home to Montebello, CA to build a humble and hardworking life.

From 1965 to 2000, Masami worked as an accomplished and precise machinist at Mel’s Auto Supply. People have shared that his reputation preceded him. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and the pride he took in fixing things and helping others whenever he could.

Masami never married, but he was never without love in his life. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who treasured the company of family and close companions. Those who knew him will always remember his warm spirit, his unmistakable hearty laugh, and the way he enjoyed sharing simple moments with the people around him.

He found happiness in life’s small pleasures - watching and attending Dodgers games, playing in golf tournaments as a member of the Century Flight Golf Club for over 30 years, also enjoyed viewing golf tournaments on TV, good conversations, time spent with family and friends, and especially good food. Masami had a particular fondness for sushi, sashimi, rice, Mexican and Italian cuisine, and he never turned down a meal shared with those he cared about.

Masami will be remembered for his gentle nature, his loyalty to those he loved, and the quiet joy he found in everyday life. He leaves behind family and friends who will deeply miss him but will carry his memory in their hearts.
