Private family funeral services for the late Mary Shigeko Akashi, 98-year-old, Coronado, CA born resident of Culver City, who passed away on March 26, 2016, were held on Thursday, April 7 at Inglewood Park Cemetery "Chapel of Chimes" in Inglewood with Rev. Fumiaki Usuki of WLA Buddhist Temple officiating.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, David Fumio Akashi and sister, Florence Uba; she is survived by her loving children, Alan (Joyce) Akashi, Larie Izumo, Candace (Ken) Watase and Jennie (Art) Hasegawa; grandchildren, Dr. Tara (Darren) Cameron, Evan and Eric Akashi, Derek (Polly) Izumo, Lauren (Alan) Miya and Kylie Hasegawa; great-grandchildren, Sophia Cameron, and Rylee, Braeden and Kori Izumo; brother, Freddie Funakoshi; she is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
