Obituary

Martha Keiko Suyetsugu passed away at home in Renton, Washington on February 8, 2014 at the age of 91.

Kay was born in Yakima, Washington to Kumaichi and Masuko Takimoto and was a former internee at Minidoka, Idaho. 2-1/2 years ago she moved from her home in Los Angeles to the Seattle area to live with her daughter, Elaine, and son-in-law, Keith, who cared for her. She was a long time member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Los Angeles and attended Lighthouse Christian Church in Bellevue, Washington. Kay had a passion for travel and made many trips abroad and throughout the United States. She also enjoyed knitting and was a master at making jams and jellies, always on the look out for fruits and berries. She took a special delight in her grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Hideo Suyetsugu, and her sisters, Michi Dozen and Sue Okabe.

Kay is survived by her four children, Jane (Jim) Hawley, Elaine (Keith) Igarashi, Mark (Cathy) Suyetsugu and Paul (Kathy) Suyetsugu; her grandchildren, Kyle (Yuki) Igarashi, Jillian Igarashi, Sean Igarashi, Matthew Suyetsugu and Kate Suyetsugu; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The memorial service for Kay will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 S. Central Avenue, Los Angeles. Burial will follow immediately at Inglewood Cemetery.
