Obituary

Margaret Motoye Wada passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at home in Lomita, CA. Margaret was born on January 1, 1929, in Pasadena, CA. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Rae Wada, son, Craig Wada, sister-in-law Chieko Miyata, nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, and close friends. Margaret was employed by the State of California for nineteen years and retired as a Manager II.   She was a member of the Double I's Women's Club, the Gardena Nisei VFW Women's Club and Koyasan Buddhist Church. After retiring Margaret was a volunteer for the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). She was recognized for her dedication and service and received The Miki Tanimura Outstanding Volunteer Award - the highest award given to a JANM volunteer for extraordinary service. As a volunteer one of Margaret's most cherished memories was when George Takei presented her with eight hundred Valentines from around the world. After twenty-three years as a volunteer, Margaret left JANM after becoming ill.  She will be remembered for her charm and outgoing personality. Most of all Margaret will be remembered as a loving wife to her husband, William Wada who precedes her death and loving mother to Donna and Craig.
