A private family service for the late Maki Kawata Nee Usuki, 99-year-old, Japan born, resident of Oxnard, who passed away on July 6, 2025, was held on Sunday, July 20 at Oxnard Buddhist Temple in Oxnard.

Predeceased by her first husband, Hideo Usuki and second husband, Ted Tadashi Kawata; she is survived by her children, Rev. Fumiaki, Yoshiaki (Lori) and Frank (Lisa) Usuki and Lilli (Nick) Goro of Iowa; grandchildren, Kimiko (Nelson) Tang of Oregon and Brett (fiancé Hanah Suh) Usuki of Nevada, Lauren (Lam) Trinh, Ashlyn and Michael Usuki, Sydnie (Reid) Haymond, Nina (Chad) Linnerooth, and Kami (Edgar) Lopez of Iowa; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Toshiko Ozeki; she is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
