In loving memory of Lily Yuriko (Nishimoto) Tanabe, we are saddened to announce her passing on April 14, 2020.  Lily was 100 years old.

Born the second child of Kikutaro and Maki Nishimoto in Casa Grande Arizona, Lily grew up mostly in El Centro California where she attended Central Union High School.  Later she attended Armstrong College in Berkley California where she trained in stenography.

During World War II Lily was interned with her family in the Poston Internment Camp.  Near the end of the war, she lost her only brother Tom who was fighting for the United States in Italy.

After the war, she moved with her family to West Los Angeles where her father started a nursery.

In Los Angeles, Lily married Takao Tanabe and together they ran the nursery for decades.

In retirement, Lily greatly enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and a close group of friends.

Lily is survived by her daughter Kathi Tanabe Richland of San Diego California and two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Lily enjoyed the opportunity to see her grandsons both attend college and become successful in their occupations.
