Obituary

Lillian Michiko Uba, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away surrounded by her sons on January 14, 2012. She was born in 1924 to Frank and Shizue Inouye and spent her childhood in Colton, California working at her parents' grocery store, the Moon Market, in San Bernardino. During WWII, she relocated with her family to Poston internment camp. Afterwards, she moved to Los Angeles and married Dr. Hideo Uba in 1953. Their marriage was filled with love and lasted 45 unforgettable years. Lillian was devoted to her family, managing her husband's successful optometric practice while raising three sons. An avid gardener, she enjoyed growing orchids and cultivated many unusual varieties of plants. Lillian will be remembered fondly for her kindness, hospitality and selfless nature and will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and is survived by sons, Greg (Tonius), Grant (Debbie) and Alan (Nora); and grandchildren, Lauren, Grant, Noelle and Allison Uba. A private service was held in her memory on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
