Obituary

Lilian Tanaka, 82 years, of Monterey Park, California, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025 at home. She was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. Born in Hawaii, she brought a light into the world that will forever be missed.

She was married to James Tanaka and was the proud mother of Kevin and Scott Tanaka. Her family was her greatest joy. She touched many lives as an educator for over 26 years. She loved traveling around the world with her husband, Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), Bunka Shishu (Japanese Embroidery Art), and Hula Dancing.

Surviving Family: James, Kevin (Shelby Diller), Scott (Dr. Nelar Wine), Jasmine Okamoto, Aaron Tanaka, Amanda Tanaka, Toby Tanaka, Naomi Tanaka.

Memorial Services: Fukui Mortuary, 707 E Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, May 18th, 3:00 pm, followed by Celebration of Life at the Japanese American National Museum, 100 N Central Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012, May 18th, 5:00 pm. Hawaiian attire is requested.
