Funeral services for the late Kumi Nishi, 89-year-old Salinas, Calif.-born, Kagoshima-Ken-raised Kibei resident of Gardena who passed away on October 13 in Gardena, will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 10:30 a.m., at Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th St., Gardena, under the direction of Fukui Mortuary.

Predeceased by her husband, Kinji Nishi and her brother, Shunichiro Yamauchi, she is survived by her sons, Katsuhisa (Kikuko), Takahisa (Patty) and Teruhisa (June) Nishi; daughters, Masako (Roy) Matsuo and Akiko (Alan) Tomiyama, grandchildren, Jin (Maria) Nishi, Teiko (Klete) Ikemoto, Kikuo (Kathy) Nishi, Jon and Eric (Michelle) Matsuo and Alissa Tomiyama; 5 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Kaizo (Koko) Nishi; cousins, Terutaka (Keiko) Yamauchi and Toshiko Alger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives here and in Japan.
