Koji Hirai, 90-year-old, born in Tottori, Japan and a long-time resident of Los Angeles peacefully passed away at his residence on August 3, 2025. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Miyeko Nancy Hirai; sons, Steve (Maile) and Brian Hirai; granddaughters Grace and Eve Hirai; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Koji always said he was "very lucky" that he was able to come to the U.S. at age 25 and have an opportunity for a good life. At first, he was excited and anxious about coming, but he was glad that he decided to stay in the U.S. He was very grateful for his family, extended family, and friends. He made a lasting impression on us all.

Funeral and interment services were held at West LA Buddhist Temple and Woodlawn Cemetery with Reverend Koho Takata officiating.
