Obituary

HAYASHI, KINJI. Age 84 passed away on June 29, 2010. Beloved husband of Marguerite "Marge" Hayashi; father of Glenn D. Hayashi, Gloria A. Siebold, and Gerald E. Hayashi; step-father of Jocelyn M. Stroupe, Lisa B. Flood-Griffith, Robert J. Stroupe Jr., and Madelein M. Blundred; grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 2.

Kinji was born in Los Angeles, California on August 26, 1925. During World War II he was interned in Gila, Arizona for 1 ½ years-along with 120,000 other Japanese Americans. After his release he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served for 2 years at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Following the internment the Hayashi family moved to Cleveland, Ohio where Kinji graduated from Case Western Reserve University. He and his wife, Lily, were married for 24 years before her passing. Kinji worked for Standard Oil which later became Sohio, and then moved on to BP as a Pipeline and Right of Way Consultant where he later retired after 37 years. He and his wife, Marge were married in 1981. They were vacationing in Monterey Park, California where Kinji was to receive an Honorary Degree from Pasadena City College. They have resided in Denton, Texas moving from Bay Village, Ohio in 1992.

The family will have a memorial service on Saturday, July 10, 10:30 A.M. at Rose Lawn Memorial Park Graveside, 3801 Roselawn Dr., Denton, TX.
