Kazuye Kato was born April 3, 1922 to Ichiji Ichimachi and Sode Shiomitsu in White Point, San Pedro, California. She died on August 27, 2018 in Mission Viejo, California.

Kazuye was three years old when her mother died and with her two brothers, she was sent to Kagoshima, Japan, to be raised by her grandparents. After graduating high school in Japan, she returned to San Pedro to live with her father. The war years were spent on a farm in Utah and she later attended a sewing school in Denver, Colorado. She was an expert seamstress the rest of her life.

In 1951, Kazuye married Tsugio Kato and they had four children: Becky, Jane, Calvin and Mary. She is survived by Becky (Bob) Applegate, son-in-law Loren Porretto, Calvin(Gail) Kato and Mary Kato, as well as six grandchildren and one great-grandson. The family would like to thank Carelife, Covina Hills Senior Homes, JP Senior Homes and OC Hospice for their warm, attentive care. Their loving help was a great comfort to us all.

Services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel on September 10, 2018 at 2 o'clock pm.
