Obituary

Kazumi Tamura, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great grandfather and special friend to many, passed away in his sleep at home on July 5. He was born June 5, 1927 in Gardena, California. During World War II, his family relocated to Davis, Utah where he attended Davis High School and then University of Utah. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and became a Japanese linguist/intelligence specialist in, post war Japan and later served during the Korean War. While stationed in Japan, he met and married Sadako Sawada. He returned to the United States in 1953 and resumed his studies in University of Utah, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting and later became a CPA. He worked for the U.S. Defense Contract Audit Agency, where he retired after 30 years of service.
Kaz is remembered for being commander of the Gardena Veteran of Foreign War, Nisei Post 1961 and also for being president of the Gardena Judo Club.
We loved him and miss him greatly. We bid him farewell.
Kaz is survived by his wife, Sadako of 65 years; daughter, Sharon and sons, Alyn and Feren, grandsons, Yuji Dornberg, Yumio Dornberg and Scott Tamura, granddaughters, Jennifer Tamura, Alyssa Tamura, Stacey Tamura, and Ashley Tamura. He is also survived by great-grandsons, Brandon Dornberg, and Calvin Dornberg,

Funeral service for Kazumi Tamura will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 2115 W. 182nd St., Torrance, CA, on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
