Obituary

Private funeral services for the late Katsuichi Mori, a Shinjuku, Tokyo Japan-born resident of Westchester who passed away on September 2, 2011 in Los Angeles were held on September 8 at Fukui Mortuary "Chapel in the Garden" officiated by Rev. Kodo Tanaka of Jodoshu Buddhist Temple.


In lieu of flowers or koden the family respectfully requests that donations be made in the name of Katsuichi Mori to the charity of your choice or to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan (213) 613-1911.



A former five-time national dive champion in Japan, Mr. Mori was awarded a gold medal at the Asian Games, and would later represent Japan in the 1952 Olympic Games held in Helsinki, Finland. Mr. Mori was also the owner of Kamei Sushi and various other restaurants in Southern California. He was most recently the owner of 26 Beach Restaurant in Venice Beach where he continued to work until his final days. Mr. Mori was a hard working man of great courage and always had the well-being of his family at heart.



Mr. Mori was predeceased by his beloved wife, Yoko Mori. He is survived by his sons, Bryan Motoaki (Rita) and Francis Motohiro Mori; grandsons Tadashi and Eiji Mori; siblings, Kazumasa and Yasuko Mori of Japan. Also survived by many other relatives here and in Japan.
